Are you lucky enough to be in Copenhagen this weekend? Well a visit to the city right now will have the sweet soundtrack of jazz as from 6th July Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2018 is in full motion! Taking place over 10 days and over 120 different venues, this 40th edition has plenty of free concerts on offer as well as some more celebrated and famous jazz icons. There are plenty of Danish artists as always to represent home talent, but also plenty of international acts to get excited about! Headline acts include Pharoah Sanders, The Roots, Brad Mehldau Trio, Jeff Beck, Mulatu Astatke, Seu Jorge, Carla Bley, Melody Gardot, Tower of Power and Charles Lloyd & The Marvels feat. Bill Frisell.


This is the 40th year of this event and the organisers will be celebrating with a few special events as well as poster memorabilia for you to see the festival's history through the visual design.

Venues and Acts

More than 120 venues are part of the festival so it’s safe to say it’s happening all over the city and you won't miss it! Even if you think you're not a massive jazz fan then remember there are also lots of blues and funk shows, you're sure to find something you can get your groove on to. Other jazz and samba artists taking part include Rokia Traoré, Hailu Mergia and Majid Bekkas, along with Milton Nascimento, Egberto Gismonti, Oumou Sangeré, Tinariwen, Anoushka Shankar, Abdullah Ibrahim, Arturo Sandoval, Concha Buika, and famous Brazilian artists Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.

And as so many of the events are free and on open air stages, you're sure to stumble upon a band or a live performance taking place in a cafe, park, a quirky bar or museum even! There are so many different venues and events that you're sure to find some you weren't even looking for!
