CPH PIX Denmark’s International Feature Film Festival
28/09/2017 - 11/10/2017 |
CPH PIX is this year taking place at the end of September until the beginning of October right here in Copenhagen. It attracts more than 50,000 visitors each year to a festival programme of hundreds of international film screenings, offering all things film related including concerts and courses, and one-off screenings of films that would otherwise not been seen. It’s a great way for new talent to get recognition from the industry, and emerging film makers to show case their talent. For the audience, it’s also a great way to see plenty of movies, get a glimpse at some red carpet action, and enjoy the festival!
What’s it all about?
"CPH PIX strives to give audiences the opportunity to sample some of the best, bravest and most eye-opening films with screenings and events for schools and families in the daytime and a lineup of alternative mainstream, edgy arthouse and genre films for adults in the afternoons, evenings and nights."
Cool Categories and Events
There are films for everyone being screened at this event; from Cool China to - Thrills and Kills, and of course, New Danish Talents.
As well as screening classic movies like Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (as a film concert) there are plenty of new films and shorts from new upcoming producers and directors. Check out the events (our favourite is the Napoleon Dynamite one!) and talks such as Danes in Hollywood.
This is about more than film though, with concerts, events and talks taking place as part of the festival.
The Competition
There is also of course a competition taking place with the big prize - the ‘New Talent Grand Prix’ being the hottest ticket in town. This is the chance for directors to show their debut movies and win a 6,000 euro cash prize - and there are 11 talented nominees up for the award. See who’s in the competition here
