Famous Hostels Ambassador: Italy to Switzerland

We last heard from Famous Hostels Ambassador, Stephen ‘Beaver’ Harris as he left Rome on a delayed train to Rimini - here’s what he’s been getting up to since on his epic journey around all 51 Famous Hostels in 28 countries, from Amsterdam to Zagreb.

Leaving Rome for Sunflower Hostel, Rimini

So Beaver managed to head on his way to Rimini through the Apennine Mountains to Italy’s east coast. After a series of delays, he arrived at the awesome party Sunflower Hostel on Rimini’s beach, run by the fantastic Rafaelle, Davide and Massimo. Relaxing in Rimini and San Marino

“I am very tired because in the evenings I am party-dog… or party-wolf?”

The Train to Interlaken, Switzerland

"I said “How about the €10?” and looked guilty…"

Beaver said ciao to the Rimini boys and headed up towards the Swiss Alps. Doesn’t sound like he went exactly as the crow flies, but he got there in the end. And since he was heading to Balmer’s Herberge in Interlaken - home of paragliding and partying - we knew he was on his way to a good time.

Balmer’s Herberge is 125 years old and still family run - one of the original hostels and oldest in Switzerland. It does look like something out of a chocolate box, and there really are cows with bells going past, but despite it's setting of spectacular scenery it's quite a place to party. Of course Beaver arrived and was given the Balmer’s welcome - he ended up having a good time in the bar!

The next day Beaver attended his Funky Chocolate workshop - the best place to learn about making milk chocolate…
