Eat your heart out at WestMarket street food market in Vesterbro
Denmark’s biggest food court provides the ultimate hangout spot in the centre of town! Now ‘Copenhagen Food Market’ has closed its doors on Paper Island, there’s an alternative that’s in local neighbourhood Vesterbro where you can get your fill of good food at low prices! So, let’s check out what’s going on at WestMarket.

New Market on the Bloc
If you love exploring the different neighbourhoods of Copenhagen then you’re going to love the new kid on the block as Vesterbo’s Westmarket brings street food to this neighbourhood of bars and restaurants. Not just a place to grab a snack or watch the world go by, there are also plenty of grocery essentials and exotic treats to find here in the specialist stalls.
There are cafes and of course bakeries open early in the morning and stalls dishes up delicious snacks from 10am, whether you’re looking for something fancy or a burger. This is a popular local haunt since opening last summer, this places serves up delicious food all day long; great for a cheeky beer in the sun, a delicious (Danish) pastry, or a full blown meal. It’s also a great area with a laidback vibe, so one of our favourite for people watching and a bit of a hangout.
Dining and Music Experience
Not just a great place to eat and drink, WestMarket is all about the experience! They have a variety of events (check on the website) including live music and dining experiences. The food stalls are also from all over the world, so you can get a taste of different products and find out from their owners about the produce and flavours they create.
Fine Dining and a Copenhagen Experience
So don’t mistake WestMarket for somewhere that just sells take away food - there is a selection of restaurants here where you can have a fine dining experience. Check out the Italian pizza restaurants or a fine steak, or enjoy the culinary treats from around the world from Indonesia or Scandinavian homegrown nourishment. There are also selections of wines and beers - everything for a food lover’s paradise!! We love this market for the great selection at different prices, and the chance to explore the neighbourhood. You can also grab something on the go, or make a meal of it!
