What’s Happening in Copenhagen this February
Experience outdoor ice-skating, Copenhagen Fashion Week, the Winter Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Light Festival, and plenty of bars, cafes, and museums. February is the shortest month, but we have a lot to pack in!
Winter doesn't have to mean no fun is allowed, and we are determined to have plenty in Copenhagen this month! The long dark nights can be cosy in one of the city's many cafes or bars, and you can warm yourself up at some of the events taking place around town, from fashion parties to foot stomping jazz. Here are our favourite things to look forward to for the month ahead in Copenhagen.
Iceskating in Frederiksberg
Step onto the ice with the awesome outdoor iceskating rink in Frederiksberg neighborhood, it's there until the end of February. Just step up and hire your skates and you're good to go! Enjoy making some shapes in the outdoors and grab a hot chocolate after at one of the cute cafes nearby.
Hit the Urban Ski Slope!
Ok so you may be thinking that Copenhagen is flat, but there is actually one big hill worth visiting - Copenhill. An outdoor ski slope on the roof of a building right here in Copenhagen, with views that will blow your mind! There is 41,00m2 of slope and a maximum of 100 skiers at a time, so plenty of space for outdoor activities. Try out some ski or snowboarding, or hit up the tallest climbing wall in the city. You can enjoy the cold weather with city views not mountains. Try out some urban ski!
Get Arty - Exhibitions Taking Place
Along with famous art and artefacts from all over the world, especially the ancient world and Egypt, this is a wonderful gallery to lose yourself in for a few hours on a rainy day. It’s closed currently until the end of January, but then open again for visitors. You need a Corona Pass to visit.
Current Exhibitions include Danish Art 1780/1930 with sculptures and drawings, The Secret Garden, an immersive and musical experience with floral art and dance!
Free on Tuesday, closed on Mondays. Opening hours 10am to 5pm
Copenhagen Fashion Week AW22
1st - 4th February
Over 20 catwalk shows, 3 digital screenings, 9 digital premiers and workshops, talks, and events – this year’s AW22 Fashion Show is going to be sensational! As the city gears up for a fashion extravaganza, trend setters and industry insiders are lining up to see the next big fashion trend on the catwalk this winter. The biggest and most influential fashion show in Scandinavia, with international and local Danish talent, and a focus on sustainability in fashion. Along with the famous Danish designers and international fashion houses, there is also the “Designer’s Nest” where up and coming talent will exhibit and compete for collaborations with well-known designers. These shows promise to be the most edgy! Many of the events are invite only, but you can check out the programme and events taking place, such as workshops and talks, with many events also being available online. Find out more about the events taking place here.
Copenhagen Light Festival 2022
4th to 27th 2022
Bringing “light in the winter darkness” as the Copenhagen Light Festival promises, this is a three week long inspirational event that illuminates the city. The festival includes light installations, mapping, projections, digital artwork, and creative ways to light up famous buildings around the city. The event takes place every year as a means to celebrate light art and to transform the city into an experiential light show, with installations by international artists and local Danish actors.
Artwork this year includes “A Dozen Sun”, an illuminated sphere at Skuespilhuset, “Jam” across Lille Langebro bridge, “Neutrino” at BLOX, and “Transcendence” at Refshaleoen.
